José Pérez Tornero, Professor of the UAB, chosen as a member of the Board of Directors of RTVE

The UAB professor, José Manuel Pérez Tornero, professor of Journalism at the Faculty of Communication Sciences, has been chosen as a member of the Board of Directors of the Spanish Radio and Television Corporation (RTVE) by the Congress of Deputies. On Thursday, February 25, in plenary session, the Congress elected the first six members, from among whom the president will be chosen in the coming weeks.

In his speech before Congress as a candidate for the presidency of the Corporation, a few days ago, Pérez Tornero highlighted the importance of integration with citizens and the development of a learning society, the need to maintain public and free television, the creation of a comprehensive production and scheduling system that drives great technological change and business restructuring.

Long history linked to the UAB

José Manuel Pérez Tornero has a long academic career linked to the UAB, where he received his bachelor's and doctorate degrees, and where he has developed an important teaching and research task, occupying different positions of responsibility linked to his area of ​​knowledge. He also has a degree in Hispanic Philology.

Currently, he is director of the research group of the UAB Cabinet of Communication and Education, of the Doctoral Studies in Journalism and of the Master of Communication and Education of the University, as well as co-director of the Travel Journalism of the same. He has been director of the Department of Journalism and Communication Sciences (UAB).

He is the author of numerous books, reports, and scientific articles on communication, education, new narratives, media literacy, and technology, among other topics.
