Jordi Plana Arrasa, the current manager of Education Services at the Barcelona Provincial Council, began his career as the new manager of the Institute of Political and Social Sciences on 8 November.

The Diputació de Barcelona and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona created the Institute of Political and Social Sciences (ICPS) on November 8, 1988. The main objective of the ICPS is to promote research in Political Science and the social sciences in Catalonia. They pay attention to the training of young researchers and to the promotion of relations between the different Catalan political scientists. Otherwise, the ICPS makes available to the scientific community several lines of action and dissemination of their work, workshops, symposia, seminars, courses, and election polls that, through the publication of books and working papers, which can be found on their website.
