The Faculty of Communication Sciences, awarded the National Communication Awards

The dean of the Faculty, Maria José Recoder, accompanied by professors Enric Marín, Patrícia Lázaro, Carmina Crusafon, Xavier Ribes, Miquel de Moragas and Carles Llorens, received the honorable mention of the National Communication Awards, in an event held on the 23rd November at the Palau de la Generalitat.

The jury noted that the center was "a pioneer in offering official university studies in journalism, advertising, public relations and audiovisual communication" and stated that it is a "benchmark for many generations of professionals in the country."

The event, chaired by the President of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Pere Aragonès, wanted to pay tribute to the radio on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the first regular broadcasts in Catalonia and turned the Palau de la Generalitat into a radio space, hosted by the journalist and UAB alumni Gemma Nierga.

The National Communication Awards were created in 1999 on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the birth of the first regular radio broadcast in Catalonia. The purpose of these awards is to "recognize the most relevant contributions in the field of communication in Catalonia or in the Catalan language, whether they have been made by professionals or by any public or private entity."

The jury of this twentieth edition of the awards has been chaired by the Minister of the Presidency, Laura Vilagrà, and consists of Oriol Duran, Núria de José Gomar, Jofre Llombart, Roger Loppacher, Miquel Miralles, Elena Neira, Núria Piera, Patrícia Plaja , Jordi del Río and Rosa Romà. In addition to the Faculty of Communication Sciences, the programs Crims (Catalunya Ràdio) and Polònia (Televisió de Catalunya), the magazine Sàpiens, the online platform FILMIN, the journalist Julia Otero and the campaigns of the Sistema de Salut de Catalonia during the first wave of the pandemic.
