Author’s Day: Toni Sala
Author’s Day has become a key event at the Fundació Bosch i Cardellach. This year, the honored writer is Toni Sala, one of the most significant voices in contemporary Catalan literature. The event will feature a conversation between the author and poet-editor Jordi Cornudella, providing an in-depth look at Sala’s literary career and his influence on modern narrative.
Born in Sant Feliu de Guíxols in 1969, Toni Sala has explored various literary genres, from fiction and essays to journalistic chronicles. He won the Documenta Prize for his short story collection Entomologia (1997) and made his novel debut with Pere Marín (1998). His experience as a teacher is reflected in Petita crònica d’un professor de secundària (2001), and he gained widespread recognition with Rodalies (2004), winner of the Sant Joan Prize. He has also delved into essays, with works such as El cas Pujol (2014), which earned him the Ciutat de Barcelona Prize. Among his most recent works are Una família (2021) and Tradició i creació (2024), a collection of literary essays.
This event offers a unique opportunity to gain insight into his career and reflect on his contributions to Catalan literature.
