  • Addressing user inquiries or requests for information.
  • Sending information considered of interest to the user.

However, to ensure optimal attention to users' needs, we may need to share certain information with the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona within the limits established by the collaboration agreement between the two entities. This exchange is conducted to provide the best possible service while complying with security measures and minimizing data usage to protect personal information and respect privacy.

5. LEGAL BASIS: EXPRESS CONSENT FOR DATA PROCESSING

5.1. Consent of Natural Persons

In accordance with the GDPR and the LOPDGDD, as well as our internal policies, when users provide personal data, they must give explicit consent or there must be an appropriate legal basis for the processing of their data.

If consent serves as the legal basis, it will be requested by checking the box located at the bottom of each data collection form or, if contacting us via our email, explicitly agreeing that their data may be processed for the purpose specified in their request.

Through these actions, the user freely and unequivocally expresses their consent for the processing of their personal data in accordance with the purposes described above. The user ensures that the personal data provided is accurate and commits to notifying us of any changes or modifications.

The acceptance of personal data processing for the purposes established in this policy may be revoked at any time, without retroactive effects, as stipulated by current legislation. This means that the user has the right to withdraw their consent at any time, without affecting the legality of the processing carried out prior to the withdrawal of consent.

5.2. Consent of Legal Entities

We inform users that, when acting on behalf of a legal entity or as an independent professional, they grant us authorization to send information related to contracted services and, if applicable, commercial information, through acceptance of this privacy policy. Therefore, when the user requests information through the channels established by AmicsUAB on our website, their information may also be used for commercial purposes and to send electronic communications, provided that they have given explicit consent to do so.

It is important to highlight that the user's acceptance of the processing of their data for the purposes mentioned in this policy is fully revocable, without retroactive effects, as provided by current legislation. This means that the user has the right to withdraw their consent at any time, without this action affecting the legality of the processing carried out based on the consent given previously.

However, it should also be noted that there are other legal bases, according to applicable regulations, that may justify the processing of personal data beyond the user's consent. This means that, regardless of the consent granted, the user's personal data may be processed in certain situations provided by law, such as compliance with legal obligations, the execution of a contract to which the user is a party, or the pursuit of a legitimate interest justifying such processing, always within the framework established by applicable legislation.

5.3. Service Contracting

Another legal basis we may rely on is the contracting of a service, i.e., if you wish to become a member of AmicsUAB, you will need to accept our Membership Conditions. By virtue of this contract or to become a member, your data will also be used for the purposes indicated in this Policy and for any data processing arising from the service contract, which you will be informed of at the appropriate time.

6. ABOUT USERS’ RIGHTS TO ACCESS, RECTIFICATION, ERASURE, OPPOSITION, PORTABILITY, FORGETTING, AND RESTRICTION OF PROCESSING

The GDPR and the LOPDGDD establish a series of legal guarantees that allow users to manage the processing of their personal data. AmicsUAB adheres to these legal guarantees, enabling users to exercise their rights of access, rectification, erasure (also known as the "right to be forgotten"), opposition, portability, and restriction of processing at any time. These rights can be exercised by sending an email to benvinguts@amicsuab.cat or via postal mail to Torre Vila-Puig, Campus UAB, 08193 Bellaterra (Barcelona). Below is a brief explanation of each right:

  • Access: Allows users to know and obtain information about their personal data being processed by AmicsUAB, including the purpose of the processing, the origin of the data, and possible recipients or categories of recipients.
  • Rectification: Allows users to correct errors, modify inaccurate or incomplete data, and ensure the accuracy of their personal information.
  • Erasure: Enables users to request the deletion of their personal data when they are no longer necessary for the purposes for which they were collected, among other reasons.
  • Opposition: Allows users to object to the processing of their personal data in certain circumstances, particularly for direct marketing purposes or when processing is based on the legitimate interest of the controller.
  • Portability: Allows users to receive their personal data in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format and to transmit it to another data controller without hindrance.
  • Right to be Forgotten: Enables users to request the erasure of their personal data in specific situations, such as when the data is no longer needed for its original purpose.
  • Restriction of Processing: Users can request a restriction of their personal data processing, which means that in certain conditions, processing may be temporarily suspended or data retained beyond the necessary time as required by law.
  • Not to Be Subject to Automated Decision-Making: Protects users from being subject to decisions based solely on automated processing of their data (including profiling) that may have significant legal effects or similar impacts on them.

Additionally, users have the right to file a complaint with the Catalan Data Protection Authority (APDCAT, https://apdcat.gencat.cat/ca/inici) if they believe their personal data is being processed in violation of current data protection laws, without prejudice to any other administrative or legal action they may undertake.

We inform you that the processing of your data will not involve making decisions based solely on automated data processing, including profiling, nor will aspects concerning you be evaluated, as such data is not collected. Should such processing be required by law, appropriate safeguards would apply, and you would be duly informed.

7. SECURITY MEASURES FOR DATA COLLECTION

To ensure security on our website, we have implemented a security system designed to maintain the confidentiality and integrity of our users’ data. This applies to both data submitted and collected through the aforementioned processes. We adhere to the security standards required by GDPR and LOPDGDD, utilizing all available technical resources to prevent loss, misuse, alteration, unauthorized access, and theft of the data provided by users through the website.

However, as a user of our platform, it is essential to understand, accept, and recognize that no security system is entirely invulnerable. Therefore, adopting your own security measures to reinforce trust in the authenticity of the website where data is entered is crucial. We are committed to ensuring the privacy and security of users' identifying data, exercising maximum diligence, and implementing necessary measures.

It should be noted that the user bears sole responsibility for the security measures they choose to implement to protect their data. Website administrators are not responsible for situations where users fail to apply adequate protection measures or for any resulting consequences, including damage caused by third parties, accidental incidents, or force majeure events.

Finally, despite efforts to ensure security, unauthorized third parties may access or manipulate users’ data or communications. Therefore, specific usage terms in our Legal Notice are established to protect both users and the website.

8. PROCESSING OF MINORS' DATA

If you provide data through forms or emails specified on this website and accept the processing of your data, you confirm that you are over 14 years old. Note that access and use of this website are strictly prohibited for individuals under this age. If we discover that a minor under 14 has provided personal data, immediate steps will be taken to permanently delete such data.

For specific services, such as becoming a member, users must be of legal age and possess the legal capacity required for such commitments. This ensures compliance with legal obligations and the ability to understand and accept service terms.

9. DATA RETENTION PERIOD

Personal data provided will only be retained as long as necessary to fulfill the purpose for which it was collected, including determining any potential liabilities arising from this purpose. After service completion, data will be blocked and retained for legally prescribed periods. During this time, technical and organizational measures will be taken to prevent data processing, including access, making it available only to courts, tribunals, prosecutors, or public administrations to address potential legal liabilities. Once the legally required retention period has passed, data will be permanently destroyed.

10. SOCIAL MEDIA

AmicsUAB has profiles on Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube, and potentially other social networks. Following or interacting with us via likes or comments makes AmicsUAB responsible for your data in this context. By following our profiles or engaging with our content, you accept this policy, which explains how we use your data and your rights. We are committed to maintaining data confidentiality and respecting your rights in compliance with current legislation.

Please note that there is no direct relationship between AmicsUAB and social platforms. Accessing these platforms or accepting their terms of use during registration is your responsibility, independent of AmicsUAB’s actions.
