Between walls and squares: music in regional Catalonia

In the Catalan region of Comtal, music was a fundamental element in both the religious and secular spheres. This intervention proposes an immersion in the sounds and musical uses of the medieval period, distinguishing between functional music -such as ceremonial or military sounds- and the artistic repertoire. We will focus on music as a contextualized expression, linked to liturgical, devotional or courtly environments, in order to delve deeper into its aesthetic function and transmission within medieval Catalan society.
