COURSE: MIDDLE EAST - Universitat a l'Abast
The aim of the course is to review, from a current perspective but with an approach that will always take into account the historical background and the influence of the international system, the Middle East and the adjacent area. Although two sessions will be dedicated to the Arab-Palestinian-Israeli conflict, including the phase of direct violence that began on October 7, 2023 with the Hamas terrorist attack, it will not be limited to its analysis. Attention will also be paid to Lebanon, Syria and adjacent areas such as Iran, Iraq and Yemen, and, in general, their relationship with the Middle East.

FACULTY
Rafael Grasa Hernández. Emeritus Professor of International Relations at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, where he taught and held management positions between 1988 and 2023. He is a senior research associate at CIDOB. He specializes in global geopolitics, peacebuilding and conflict transformation, security and development. He has carried out fieldwork and various missions in about twenty countries in Europe, Africa, Latin America and Central Asia.

- Face-to-face course, 12 hours long. The sessions will be held from 10 am to 12 pm, at the UAB Campus in Sabadell (c. Emprius, 2.)
