Documentary of the month: The city of the sea
INFORMATION
The documentary 'The City of the Sea' offers an unprecedented portrait of Barcelona based on two experiences: that of a novel journalist who is commissioned to write about the Catalan capital and chooses the Consolat de Mar as an extraordinary historical event, and that of the singer of Dorian, Marc Gili, who seeks creative inspiration to dedicate a song to the city where he was born and questioned. Based on different testimonies, we discover the enormous influence of the Consolat de Mar for centuries, as an institution that since the Middle Ages applied Catalan law in the Mediterranean and acted as a mediator in the maritime world. Among the voices included are those of Jordi Domingo, consul general of the Consolat de Mar; Albert Curto, director of the Baix Ebre Regional Archive; Father Bernat Juliol, spokesman for the Montserrat Monastery; musician and writer Ramon Gener; the director of the Barcelona Maritime Museum, Enric Garcia, and the economist and writer Miquel Puig.
Documentary co-produced by La Xarxa de Comunicació Local and made by Turkana Films.
