Screening of the film The Stratton Story, directed by Sam Wood (1949)
The Stratton Story (Sam Wood, 1949) is one of two films featured in the film series "Hollyball: Sport, Perseverance and the Value of Sacrifice." This biopic tells the story of Monty Stratton, a pitcher for the Chicago White Sox whose life takes a dramatic turn after he loses a leg in a hunting accident. His life story opens a cycle that explores how cinema has used baseball as a metaphor to reflect the values of American society.
The film will be screened on Tuesday, May 13 at 12 PM in the UAB Cinema Hall.
Organized by the Department of Audiovisual Communication and Advertising.
