Talk: Bio-sensors, quantum sensors: from small measurements to big solutions - Cycle: quantum@sbd

With Daniel Quesada González, postdoctoral researcher at the Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICN2); and Elisabet Roda Salichs, doctoral researcher at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB).

In the first part of this session we will learn what a biosensor is and we will name some examples, some of them based on quantum materials, which have been revolutionising medicine in recent years. Biosensors to diagnose pregnancy or an IVOC in a few minutes and at home, to understand how a disease such as cirrhosis evolves, to detect and eliminate tumour cells, or to improve tissue regeneration in wound healing. In the second part, we will talk about the advantages of quantum sensors, and more specifically about continuously monitored quantum sensors, showing how quantum properties allow us to develop solutions for problems in advanced diagnostics in medicine, such as the detection of gravitational waves (see poster). (see poster).
