Talk-colloquium: From Planck's Quantum to Schrödinger's Cat: A Journey through the History of Quantum Physics
By Sònia Fernàndez-Vidal, physicist, writer and popularizer. Author of the trilogy The Three Locks Door
Quantum physics has revolutionized our understanding of the universe, challenging intuition and redefining the limits of knowledge. In this conference, we will explore the fascinating journey of quantum mechanics from its origins to its modern formulation. We will start with Max Planck and the birth of the quantum of action, passing through the key contributions of Einstein and De Broglie, and finally we will see how quantum mechanics emerged in all its strangeness and beauty in the hands of Schrödinger and other pioneers. Through accessible stories and visual examples, we will discover how light and particles challenged our intuition, demonstrating that reality is much more mysterious than it seems.
We look forward to seeing you! And if you have a copy of one of Sònia's books, don't forget to bring it. (see poster).
