This Tuesday, 21 April, Amics UAB was present at the tribute to the retired people of the Universitat Autonòma de Barcelona (UAB), a ceremony that recognize the career and contribution of staff who have recently retired.
The event was chaired by the rector of UAB, Javier Lafuente; the general secretary, Esther Zapater; and the manager, Samuel Reyes. The event began with Zapater’s words of welcome, which highlighted the legacy of retired staff and their contribution to the growth of the institution.
"Today’s UAB is a direct heir to the UAB you built," she said during her speech.
Next, Dr. Vicent Fonollosa spoke on behalf of the Teaching and Research Staff (PDI), from where he dedicated a word of thanks to the rector Javier Lafuente.
For his part, Samuel Reyes delivered his first speech as manager of the UAB, in a day marked by recognition and gratitude towards the people honored.
To close the parliamentary round, Maripau Alvarez made a representation on behalf of the Technical Personnel, Management, Administration and Services (PTGAS) retired in 2025. In her speech, she asserted the role and position of retirees within the university community.
Finally, recognition prizes were awarded to all the retirees present and the Rector made a closing, an emotional moment that ended the ceremony.
The event served to pay tribute to decades of dedication and commitment from people who have contributed to building the history of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.
