AmicsUAB has decided to suspend its activity on the social network X, formerly known as Twitter. This decision is in response to changes in the platform's editorial direction and growing concerns about the potential manipulation of public opinion.
For the association, social media and other communication channels have always been tools for disseminating knowledge, strengthening the bond between the university community and society, and fostering critical debate based on truthful and verified information. For this reason, the fundamental values that guide the association’s mission are in conflict with the new direction of the platform.
The owner of X has publicly expressed political preferences, and their influence has been evident not only in the network’s internal dynamics but also in the political and social sphere on an international scale. Additionally, various analyses have raised concerns about potential biases in information dissemination and the promotion of narratives that may compromise principles of ethics and social responsibility.
In light of this, and with no guarantees of future changes, AmicsUAB has decided to cease its activity on X to ensure an environment that remains aligned with the association’s commitment to rigor and plurality.
