AmicsUAB Visit to the ALBA Synchrotron

On May 13th, AmicsUAB had the privilege of visiting the prestigious ALBA Synchrotron, the electron accelerator complex used to produce synchrotron light, located in Cerdanyola del Vallès (Barcelona). The distinguished physicist and former rector of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), Ramon Pascual, who is also a member of AmicsUAB, acted as the guide, providing a unique experience to the attendees.

The ALBA Synchrotron, known for its ability to reveal the atomic and molecular structure of materials, impressed the visitors with its state-of-the-art technology. With an electron beam energy of 3 GeV and ten operational light lines, ALBA is a key player in scientific research in the Mediterranean.

During the visit, participants had the opportunity to closely observe the operation of the electron accelerator and explore the various applications in biosciences, condensed matter, and materials science offered by this outstanding scientific facility.
