On May 7th, the Mestre Martí Tauler library in Rubí became the venue for a fascinating lecture titled "Is it still possible to be happy?", delivered by Mercè Rius, honorary professor in the Philosophy Department at UAB, and organized by AmicsUAB in collaboration with the Aula de Extensión Universitaria Rubí. With an audience of around 30 people eager for reflection and knowledge, the lecture explored deep questions about the nature of happiness and the possibility of achieving it in everyday life.
The question of happiness is a topic that has intrigued philosophers and thinkers throughout history. From Aristotle, who was the first to develop a reflection on the necessary conditions to reach a state of mind that could be qualified as happy, to contemporary discussions about the relationship between happiness and morality, the subject remains relevant and thought-provoking.
The lecture also addressed the idea of self-acceptance, emphasizing the importance of maintaining optimism and enthusiasm even in the most difficult circumstances. Happiness, as it was suggested, is not bought or acquired through material possessions, but depends largely on the attitude and morality of each individual.
