Amics UAB, in collaboration with Amics de la UNESCO de Sant Cugat del Vallés, present the Millennium cycle of Montserrat.
During 2025, the millennium of the foundation of the monastery of Montserrat by Oliba, abbot of Ripoll and Cuixà and bishop of Vic, will be commemorated. History says that as early as 880 on the mountain of Montserrat there was a small hermitage dedicated to the Virgin. It wasn't until a few decades later, in 1025, when a group of monks from Ripoll, sent by their abbot, built a Benedictine monastery next to the aforementioned hermitage. This is how the monastery of Montserrat was born, which has always been marked by this double aspect: Benedictine monastery and Marian sanctuary.
During the Cycle we will be able to enjoy various activities:
Lecture by Father Efrem de Montellar, prefect of the School of Montserrat on Montserrat Music.
Conference by Brother Xavier Caballé director of the Museo de Montserrat about Montserrat and Art.
Departure to the Monastery of Monsterrat to visit the Museum and the immersive exhibition.
Lecture by Lluis Blauneras, commissioner of the millennium of Montserrat presented by the Magnificent Rector of the UAB Xavier Lafuente (Date to be confirmed).
