The Mestre Martí Tauler Library in Rubí was packed yesterday, 20 October, for the round-table discussion “Pau Casals: His Music and the Myth”, an event dedicated to reflecting on the musician’s life, work and enduring legacy.
The event featured contributions from Gabrielle Kaufman, Lecturer in the Department of Art and Musicology; Francesc d’Assis Cortés Mir, Professor at the UAB; and Oriol Pérez Triviño, musicologist and essayist. Their contributions enriched the discussion on Pau Casals’s musical and cultural legacy.
The event also offered an opportunity to enjoy live music performed by the Clar Obscur duo, featuring Yael Vidal on cello and Gorka Albiol on acoustic guitar. They opened the event with El Cant dels Ocells (Song of the Birds), followed by Bach’s Prelude for solo cello, adding a musical dimension to an evening that brought together knowledge, reflection and culture.
The success of the event highlights the public’s interest in activities that bring university knowledge closer to the wider community and encourage cultural dialogue across the region.
This initiative forms part of AmicsUAB’s mission to strengthen the relationship between the university and society by promoting opportunities for exchange centred on knowledge, music and debate.
