On June 20th, the headquarters of AmicsUAB, the Torre Vila-Puig, hosted the Solstice Party 2024. The event, marking the end of the academic year and the start of summer, brought together around 100 people who enjoyed a wonderful evening full of company and great moments.
Starting at 6 PM, attendees began to arrive, and at the entrance, they were given a bag containing three magazines from the Association of Publications in Catalan (APPEC), thanks to their collaboration. They were also given drink tickets and their participation number for the raffles.
Once the party began, the Secretary of our association, Joan Lluís Pérez Francesch, welcomed everyone, outlined the details of the event, and expressed the appropriate thanks. After his speech, he introduced the Vila-Puig family. Oriol Vila-Puig introduced his father, Santiago Vila-Puig, who lived in the house during his childhood. After delivering an emotional speech, they started the tour of the exhibition opening at Torre Vila-Puig, allowing the attendees to immerse themselves in a historical glimpse of it through the family’s eyes.
Later, the Bellaterra Music School "El Musical" surprised us with a performance by their jazz combo. The group, consisting of keyboard, bass, double bass, drums, and trumpet, created a very pleasant atmosphere with their repertoire.
As conversations flowed, 8 PM arrived, and the speech by AmicsUAB’s president, Susanna Baqué, highlighted the importance of resuming this event, creating bonds, and once again thanked all the collaborators for their participation. Then, the raffles took place: two sets with products from Birba, Blai Peris, and Roger Goulart; a bag and bottle from AmicsUAB and an Instax camera by Fujifilm; a bag and bottle from AmicsUAB, along with a product from the UAB Pharmacy and a gift voucher from the University Optics. Special recognition was also given to the members celebrating 25 years with the association, who received a special gift provided by Agoragrafica. Then, a collective toast was made by Roger Goulart.
To close the event, we enjoyed a performance by the UAB Chamber Choir, which delivered an emotional and high-level interpretation.
This event not only served to say goodbye to the academic year and mark the start of summer, but also strengthened the bonds among the members of the university community and AmicsUAB.
