The UAB Presents Its Study Programs at the Salons of Education and Futura

The UAB will promote its study programs for the 2022-2023 academic year at the Salons of Education (March 16–20) and Futura (March 18–19), which this year return to in-person events. Both salons will take place at the Montjuïc fairgrounds in Barcelona. The UAB will provide information about undergraduate programs at stand 237 (Pavilion 1) of the Education Salon and about postgraduate offerings at stand 18 (Pavilion 2) of the Futura Salon.

The Education Salon will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. from Wednesday, March 16, to Friday, March 18. On Saturday, March 19, it will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and on the final day, Sunday, March 20, it will be open from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The Futura Salon will be open on both days from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The UAB’s team of representatives, including both students and faculty, will provide information about the University’s programs and services to prospective students and secondary school educators. Next year, the UAB’s undergraduate offerings will feature several new programs.

One of the new programs is the dual degree in Law + International Relations, which combines studies from two existing degrees offered by the university. This new program will provide comprehensive legal training while specializing in international law and politics. Graduates will gain skills to work, for example, at the European Union, international institutions and organizations, NGOs, multinational companies with a transnational scope, or as legal advisors in international negotiations.

The Faculty of Philosophy and Arts has also redesigned several of its degree programs:

These new combined philological degrees aim to better align the course content with the mixed profile of the degree, allowing students to gain a solid and integrated understanding of the linguistic and literary phenomena of both philologies. Additionally, specializations will be introduced to allow students to focus on language, linguistics, and comparative grammar or on literature, comparative literature, and culture, through a wide range of courses with a clearer professional focus, such as language teaching or language policy development.

The French Philology and Culture degree, in particular, will replace the current French Studies degree. This interuniversity program, offered by the UAB and the UB, is the only one of its kind in Catalonia. With this redesign, the degree aims to better meet labor market demands, emphasizing cultural aspects, strengthening proficiency in both the French language and culture, and enhancing interdisciplinarity with training in broader fields of knowledge (sociology, philosophy, etc.).

The Artificial Intelligence degree, which has been offered this year as a UAB proprietary degree, will become an official degree. As with previous new programs, it was initially offered as a proprietary degree and will officially be recognized starting in the 2022-2023 academic year.

In this way, the UAB strengthens its interdisciplinary offerings with a strong focus on internationalization. The 2022-2023 academic year will also mark the start of mobility for the Science, Technology, and Humanities degree, taught between Barcelona and Madrid through the Alliance of 4 Universities. Students currently enrolled in the program at the Faculty of Philosophy and Arts at the UAB will move to Madrid next year to complete their second year of studies at Carlos III University and the Autonomous University of Madrid.
