The "Walk the UAB!" campaign begins.

The UAB promotes sustainable mobility and the health of its community members through walking routes on campus.

In October 2021, the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) launched the "Walk the UAB!" campaign with the goal of encouraging a healthy lifestyle among students. The latest action taken by the university has been the creation of several walking routes that are easy to access. One of the main purposes of this initiative is to convey that walking around campus is not only a healthy activity, but also accessible to everyone who wants to participate. Taking advantage of the fact that the UAB is located in a privileged natural environment, they wanted to create suitable walking paths, and most importantly, routes of not very long distances.

To promote this action, several videos have been published on social media explaining these routes. Additionally, information about each route is available on the digital screens of the university centers and on the banners spread across the campus.

As the UAB itself has explained, "The initiative also highlights that, according to the World Health Organization, lifestyles are becoming increasingly sedentary due to the use of motorized transportation and the growing use of screens in the workplace, education, and leisure activities. The lack of physical activity increases the risk of premature death and various diseases such as obesity, hypertension, type 2 diabetes, colon cancer, arthritis, or other coronary diseases."

If you want to learn more about this initiative and the available routes, visit the official UAB website.
