The recent workshop "Health Savings: Workshop to Learn How to Live Better" on February 29 at the Mestre Martí Tauler Library (Rubí) was led by expert and qualified physiotherapist and nurse Antoni Narbona, accompanied by Laura Sánchez, nursing technician. It provided participants with a renewed perspective on the concept of health savings, emphasizing the importance of neutral spaces and personal responsibility as the foundations for optimal physical, emotional, and social well-being.
The workshop addressed key topics such as neutral spaces, highlighting the vital need to find moments of self-connection amidst the acceleration of modern life. "We don't enjoy ourselves enough," noted Narbona, "and these spaces are crucial for our mental and emotional health."
One of the key points was the notion of health savings, beyond traditional prevention and promotion. Narbona emphasized the importance of taking an active role in our own health, especially at a time when the population of people over 65 years old is constantly increasing.
The workshop called for a paradigm shift, moving the emphasis from "having" to "being," and underlined the personal responsibility in preserving health. "Health is a means, not an end," quoted Narbona, reminding participants of the importance of valuing quality of life over mere existence.
Part of the workshop practice included identifying each person's "health pie." This was done through an exercise where each participant had to paint their pie, encouraging reflection on the physical and mental aspects of their health and committing to concrete actions to improve it.
