On December 4, we visited the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) Moncada and the historic Casa de les Aigües de Montcada i Reixac, with the aim of learning and reflecting on the value of water infrastructure and its relationship with environmental sustainability and industrial heritage of the area.
The day began at the Moncada WWTP, where a guide gave us a detailed explanation on the operation of the treatment plant and its importance for the treatment of wastewater. He especially emphasized its essential role in the preservation of the environment, highlighting the technologies used to ensure an efficient and sustainable water treatment. This explanation allowed the participants to understand in a practical way the processes involved in wastewater management and their contribution to the sustainability of the water cycle.
After the visit to the WWTP, the group undertook a walk to the Casa de les Aigües, a building of architectural and historical interest. The participants discovered its relevance as a fundamental element in the development of water supply infrastructures in the region, while enjoying its architectural richness, a witness to the influence of the industrial revolution in the area.
The visit ended with a very positive evaluation by the attendees, who highlighted the quality of the explanations, the combination of technical and historical aspects of the visit, as well as the fact that the visit was very well received.
We will meet again in the next activity!
