Book presentation: Orestea, by Aeschylus, translated by Eloi Creus and Miquel Desclot

With Eloi Creus and Miquel Desclot, translators of the play; Jaume Almirall, translator and president of the Catalan Association of Neohellenists; and Rosa Renom, actress.

The Orestea, the only preserved tragic trilogy of all antiquity, is the masterpiece of Aeschylus, the first of the great Athenian tragedians. It is the most profound and fascinating work of Greek theatre and a true reflection on the thirst for justice. Carles Riba translated it into prose in 30 for Bernat Metge... Almost a century later, Bernat Metge Universal offers a new translation in verse by Eloi Creus and Miquel Desclot. The presentation of this edition will feature the translators Eloi Creus and Miquel Desclot, Jaume Almirall, translator and president of the Catalan Association of Neohel-lenistes, and the actress Rosa Renom. (see poster)

"When it is claimed that from primitive darkness we move on to some kind of enlightened happiness that would recognise the individual responsibility of the citizen, is it not a banal argument to justify the established power? In this ending, do we not witness the construction of a patriarchal order that leaves matricide unanswered and puts the life of the man above that of the woman?"
Aeschylus, Orestea
